I'm Joy, a systems administrator who finds a quiet satisfaction in infrastructure that simply works. I take applications from code to reliable production on AWS and GCP: deployment pipelines, databases, secrets, release checks, and the troubleshooting when something breaks between the app, the server and the cloud. I automate the tedious parts, tighten the risky ones, and write down how it all works.
I'm a System Administrator at Dentsu Kenya, where I've worked since June 2022. I'm the only infrastructure person on our in-house platforms, working alongside frontend and backend developers to turn applications into deployable services, verify each release, and trace failures when something breaks.
Day to day that means Cloud Run and Cloud SQL in production on GCP, EC2 and RDS staging on AWS, CI/CD pipelines with migration checks and rollback, alerting that pages for real problems, and production-like staging environments for client platforms in banking, telecoms and insurance. Certified in AWS, Kubernetes and Security+, currently working toward AWS Solutions Architect Associate.
I like clean systems, honest runbooks, and learning the layer beneath the one I already understand.
Hardened a three-service platform before go-live: warm instances, regional HA database, a connection budget sized to the database tier, long-running AI requests moved onto a queue-backed worker, and a release pipeline that rehearses migrations and rolls back automatically.
Latency alerts were firing per revision and status code, so a few slow but expected requests paged on their own. Rebuilt the policy around service-wide p95 and tested it against seven days of production metrics: seven false incidents removed.
A production release failed validation because the API never opened its port. Traced it from the deployment check to process logs to a malformed database host in the environment config, then changed the deploy hooks so the same class of failure is caught early.
Email's the surest way to reach me. Happy to talk infrastructure, automation, security, or a role that needs someone steady.
